A bordo del piroscafo Vyšehrad è stato inaugurato il Museo della Navigazione a Vapore

On one of the most beautiful technical monuments of Ceco history — the historic piroscafo Vyšehrad — the only floating piroscafo museo in the Ceco Republic has been ceremonially opened. The new exhibition recalls 160 years of Praga piroscafo Navigation e offers visitors a look at both the rich past e the future of barca transport.

Our goal was to create a place wqui visitors can touch history, hear the stories of the fiume e literally feel the heartbeat of the steam engine. The Vyšehrad thus becomes a living symbol of 160 years of piroscafo navigation in Praga,” said Pavel Mácha, director of the Praga piroscafo Company.

Among other things, the exhibition presents the original steam engine, which visitors can examine in detail, the barca's restored beige paint, e the renewed panelling of the mayoral lounge. Also on display are historic navigation lamps e other authentic items of ship equipment.

An important place in the museo is given to an exhibition of the legendary Ceco construction set Merkur, which in 2025 celebrates 100 years since its creation. The display includes a unique, almost two-metre model of the Vyšehrad piroscafo built from Merkur parts, complemented by other exhibits e works by bambini involved in the project “Moldava — Famous e Navigable”.

“We had been looking for a worthy use for the Vyšehrad piroscafo for a long time, because regular operation is demanding. The museo turned out to be the ideal solution — the barca itself has become an exhibit while also carrying the story of all Ceco piroscafo navigation,” added Pavel Mácha.

The festive opening was accompanied by the finale of the Moldava Relay with water from the Moldava's source. A historic raft from southern Bohemia arrived at the Rašín lungofiume, welcomed by the Ceco Radio Symphony Orchestra, the band Bárka e the fanfares of the Schwarzenberg Guard. The festive atmospqui was further enhanced by the presence of First Lady Eva Pavlová, who accompanied the final stretch of the relay e reminded everyone of the importance of the fiume to Ceco culture e to the lives of people along its banks. The water was then transported by the piroscafo Moldava to Kampa.

With the opening of the museo, the Vyšehrad piroscafo has become a living reminder of Ceco piroscafo navigation e the importance of the Moldava in the history of the capital. Visitors can tquifore enjoy not only the beauty of the historic vessel, but also the stories that have shaped life on the fiume for decades.
