Holešovice Embankment

Holešovice Embankment (Holešovické nábřeží) was created by adapting the natural Vltava bank near old Holešovice in 1890. It lies between the present northern end of Partyzánská Street and the southern bridgehead of Barikádníků Bridge.

Old Holešovice was, however, demolished in 1978 as part of the construction of the Holešovice bypass, station and metro stop. The embankment effectively ceased to exist and turned into a non-public area of transhipment yards and storage.

The name therefore remained only for a road which to the east continued the bend of Za elektrárnou Street under the underpass below the Holešovice bypass and continued under the tram bridge towards the northern end of Partyzánská Street. Today, however, much of this street is inaccessible, and some Prague maps no longer show Holešovice Embankment at all.

You can sail along this embankment for example by hiring our boat or steamboat. The cruise route is then a matter of your choice.
