Troja Bridge

Troja Bridge is in Prague's Troja district, where it connects Partyzánská Street in Holešovice with Povltavská and Trojská streets. The bridge is designed for tram and car traffic and includes pedestrian footways on both sides as well as cyclist lanes. The bridge was built from 2010, completed and opened to traffic in 2014. It replaced a temporary tram bridge in Troja and will in the future connect to the Blanka Tunnel and the city ring road.

Although there were proposals that the bridge could be named after President Václav Havel, the Prague City Council ultimately approved the already-established name Troja Bridge.

From an architectural and structural standpoint, this is a network arch bridge with a lower deck. It is 262 metres long and the main span is 200.4 metres wide. The abutments and piers stand on bored piles in the bedrock on the banks. None of them encroaches into the river's width.

The original brief and price for the bridge were not adhered to. The original brief for a simple bridge changed after the city authority opened a competition won by a much more elaborate design — and a significantly more expensive one. The original price of CZK 400 million was thus increased by CZK 720 million.
